Vaccum Breaker is an assembly which breaks the Vacuum, when ever created in
the system. It has to be installed at the location where Vacuum will be created in
the system. In case of Tank Truck Gantry, it is observed that, after completion of
loading, usually Valve situated just after flow meter is closed to stop the flow
of liquid ( It is situated before Loading Arm and just after Flow Meter ). In this
situation liquid is left inside the pipe line after the valve and in the loading arm.
This liquid is metered in the flow meter and will try to fall in side the tanker.
This will result in the Vacuum creation after valve. This vacuum created will
hold the liquid to fall inside the tanker and it will remain suspended in the
loading arm or it will fall very slowly inside the tanker resulting in the longer
time period for compaction of the loading operation.
Due to movements and weight of liquid, this suspended liquid will fall after quite some time, by the time tanker would have left . This will result in the spillage of the product. In order to avoid this if the Vacuum Breaker is installed just after the valve situated immediately after flow meter. It will break the vacuum as soon as it is created and hence will allow all the liquid to fall inside the tanker. This will reduce time taken for loading, as well as save spillage of liquid and hence hazard of the same.
