Loading Arm Features
FEATURES OF THE LOADING ARMS SPRING BALANCED TYPE
Loading Arms:
All product carrying parts are made of carbon steel /stainless steel or Aluminium
seamless pipes. All welding is done as per ISI / ASME Codes. Welding is done
with TIG & MIG or SAW welding system. 100 % Radigraphy can also be offered
if required by client. Hydrostatic pressure test is carried out at 1.5 times
operating pressure of all parts.
All structural parts design with detailed stress analysis to obtain optimum
strength and light structure for easy maneuverability.
All loading arms are configured to give necessary flexibility of operation for the
specific installation. Detailed geometry drawing are prepared to achieve this.
Swivel Joints:
Precision ground and hardened bal races to take heavy loads and long life .
Ball bearing section separately encapsulated to retain lubricant and prevent
contamination by product.
Lubricating system consisting self following design, which maintains flow of grease
in the grooves. It also has sufficient capacity to avoid frequent refilling of grease .
A special ball bearing grease of ball bearing is used. In case of high temperature
special grease can also be provided.
We have developed special type of seal for the swivel joints. Our swivel joints have
three seals and are tested for accelerated Life Expectancy Tests. In split type design
they can be changed without removing any balls.
Balancing system:
Balancing of the arm is achieved by means of a spring cylinder with multiple spring
in tandem, mounted on friction free support, The spring and geometry of the system
are so designed as to meet all dynamic need of the operation of the loading arm. It is
design in a such way that, Loading arm can be kept in any position in a balanced
manner. The arm is perfectly balanced in the horizontal position . Above the
horizontal level , the arm is over-balanced so that it goes slowly to the Parking position
of 25 to 30 degree ( can be adjusted ) and remains there untill it is needed
for operation. When the arm is in loading position, it is under balanced to ensure that
it remains in loading position and does not tend to come up while loading.
Balancing of the loading arm can be done easily at site by any one . It do not require
any special tools or tackles. (Spring tension can be increased or decreased by
turning one nut only ) The spring box is protected from weathering and contamination.
Locks:
A positive lock is provided for holding the arm in loading position. Stop or
provided for max up position for parking and max on down position.
Vacuum Breaker:
Brass, Aluminum or Stainless steel Vacuum Breaker is provided to ensure easy
draining of the arm after use.
Special Safety Features:
• Position Sensor:
A remote position indicator is provided to give a zero potential signal indicating that
the loading arm is in loading position . In case the arm is being removed from tanker
by accidental during loading manual operation, a signal will be generated can be
used shift-off the pump valve or give a warning signal.
• Over spill protection device:
This system is built into the drop pipe to provide a potentially free signal to
indicate that the level of product in the tanker is above predetermined level.
This is to prevent accidental Overspill by stopping pump closing valve to generate
a warning signal.
• Press down system:
Loading arm can be provided with press down system. This system keeps loading
arm, lock down during of loading operation, hence accidental lifting of the loading
arm is avoided, & thus spillage is avoided.
